Martin Honigberg is a justice on the New Hampshire Superior Court.
Honigberg is a former commissioner and chair of the New Hampshire Public Utilities Commission. He was nominated by Gov. Maggie Hassan (D) in November 2013 and confirmed by the New Hampshire Executive Council on December 4, 2013.[1][2]
Biography
After earning his law degree from Vanderbilt University, Honigberg spent several years in both the private and public sectors as a lawyer. He spent nearly a decade practicing law in Washington, DC, and Boston before relocating to New Hampshire. Upon moving to New Hampshire he worked as an Assistant Attorney General for the New Hampshire Attorney General's office, and served as special counsel to New Hampshire Governor Jeanne Shaheen.[2]
Immediately before coming to the Public Utilities Commission, he worked in private practice in Concord, NH, at Sulloway & Hollis P.L.L.C. There he specialized in administrative law and was the leader of their Government Relations Group.[3][2]

Political career

Honigberg began serving on the New Hampshire Public Utilities Commission after his appointment by New Hampshire Governor Maggie Hassan in November 2013. He replaced former commissioner Michael D. Harrington.[3] His appointment was confirmed by the executive council on December 4, 2013. He served as chair of the commission.[2]

Upon nominating him to the commission, Hassan said, "The work of the Public Utilities Commission is essential for protecting consumers and ensuring that our people, families and businesses are able to receive safe, adequate and reliable service at reasonable and fair rates. I am confident that with his extensive experience with utilities regulation and nearly every aspect of state government, Martin Honigberg will ably fulfill the PUC’s critical mission, and I thank him for taking on this important responsibility."[3]
