Noteworthy events

Arrested after domestic disturbance (2016)

Landgrebe was arrested for third-degree strangulation and disorderly conduct for an incident that occurred on August 8, 2016. The woman involved was Landgrebe's wife, although that information was not in the initial police report.[6][7]

According to court documents, the two were drinking at local bar and began to fight after they had gone back to her house. Landgrebe and his wife live separately. She told police that Landgrebe pinned her to the ground by holding her throat, but that at no time did she have difficulty breathing. Landgrebe claimed that he was defending himself. Both of them sustained injuries during the fight.[6]

Landgrebe's attorney said that law enforcement officials "negligently or intentionally" left out the fact that the woman was the judge's wife. He also said that Landgrebe, in fact, had been the victim of assault in the altercation and that the judge was now seeking a restraining order against his wife.[7]

A hearing for Landgrebe's charges was on August 30, 2016.[7] In September, a Waterbury court granted Landgrebe access to the Family Violence Education Program, which, if he completes, will result in his charges being dismissed.[8]
