Martin Richter
Martin Richter was a judge on the Texas Fifth District Court of Appeals, Place 9. Governor Bush appointed him to this position in September of 2000.[1] He was retained by voters in November 7, 2000, and November 7, 2006 elections, but defeated in the May 29, 2012 Republican primary.[2] His term ended December 31, 2012.[3]
Education
Richter served in the United States Marine Corps for four years before graduating from the University of North Texas with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing. In 1976, he graduated with from St. Mary's University School of Law with his J.D. degree.[1]
Career
Richter began his legal career in 1976, working for the law firm Rivera & Ritter. From 1984 to 1988, he worked as the assistant general counsel of the State Bar of Texas. He then judged on a Municipal Court until 1990, when he was elected to the County Court at Law No. 2. Richter was appointed to the 116th Judicial District Court in 1996 He held this position until September of 2000, when he was appointed to the Court of Appeals.[1]
2012 election
Richter was defeated by challenger David Lewis in the Republican primary on May 29, receiving 46.98% of the vote.[4]
