Marty Hume is an accomplished and respected attorney, who has been practicing law for over 40 years. With over 20 years of public law experience, serving as both a Mahoning County Prosecutor as well as Youngstown's Law Director, Marty has dedicated his professional life to serving the community and upholding the law.

Throughout his distinguished career, Marty has served as Special Counsel to the Ohio Attorney General, Special Prosecutor in Youngstown Municipal Court, and as counsel for Northeast Ohio Legal Services. He holds memberships in the National District Attorneys Association and the Ohio Prosecuting Attorneys Association. He is also a certified instructor for the Ohio Police Officer’s Training Academy.

Marty Hume has spent his life serving his community and upholding the law. With decades of practical experience, a strong commitment to justice, and profound respect for every individual, Marty will serve honestly, and with the unwavering integrity that the 33rd Senate District needs
  • Marty Hume is an experienced prosecutor who will make public safety his number one concern.
  • We need to return common sense leadership to the Ohio Senate. Marty Hume will be a refreshing change from the extremism and corruption that has recently been present in state legislative chambers.
  • Youngstown made amazing economic progress during Marty's term as law director, including the construction of Wick Towers, the Doubletree Hotel, the Wells Building, the new Youngstown Municipal Court Complex, and the Youngstown Foundation Amphitheatre. As State Senator, he will do much more.
Marty Hume will work in a bi-partisan manner to:

• Keep our community safe
• Lower Property Taxes
• Help working families
• Protect Voting Rights
• Promote Development
• Improve Public Schools
• Fix Roads
• Repair Infrastructure

• Expand Broadband
It is important that voters have a clear picture of the different vision for the future put forward by the two candidates. Marty Hume is staunchly in favor of the State constitutional amendment protecting reproductive rights while the incumbent campaigned vigorously against it. Marty Hume has also criticized the incumbent for his proposal to roll back child labor laws, voting against a bi-partisan bill known as the “Crown Act,” that made it illegal for schools to discriminate against students based on natural hair styles, and for voting against HB 7 that will help mothers and babies and passed the house with broad bi-partisan support.
As a long-time prosecutor, Marty Hume strongly supports law enforcement and opposes the incumbent’s proposal that would prevent local police from cooperating with federal officials in enforcement of federal gun laws. Further, while Marty Hume strongly supports the Second Amendment, including the individual right to bear arms, he disagrees with the incumbent’s proposal to exclude gun and ammunition sales from State sales tax and have Ohio taxpayers pay gun manufacturers’ federal excise taxes.”
Honesty, integrity, experience and a commitment to public service. Here is what others say about Marty Hume.

“Marty is one of those rare candidates who has not sold out to politics or sold his soul. An honest, devoted public servant.” Columbiana County Attorney, Bruce Williams.

“I have had the pleasure of working with Marty Hume for over twenty years. Sometimes I was representing criminal defendants and he was the prosecutor. At another time, I needed help in a complicated legal matter, and I turned to Marty in his capacity as a private lawyer. I have never heard Marty raise his voice or curse, which is rare in our profession. The man is thoughtful and thorough. Most importantly, Marty's word is his bond. That's pure gold in our profession. My family and I look forward to voting for Marty on November 5, and I encourage my friends and family to join me in sending Marty Hume to the Ohio Senate.” Mahoning County Attorney Robert Price.
