Marvin Andrade graduated from UC San Diego in 2016 with degrees in Political Science and International Studies with a focus on Business. After graduation, he began his career as an organizer, driven by a commitment to elect leaders with strong values who would stand up for working families and their communities. Through his organizing efforts, Marvin helped elect representatives who shared these values and, once in office, took action on critical issues. These leaders fought against harmful cuts to Social Security offices, reductions in education funding, and the slashing of food benefits for vulnerable families. They also championed key reforms, such as investments in renewable energy, the $35 insulin cap, and Medicare’s ability to negotiate drug prices, making healthcare more accessible and affordable for everyone.

Now, Marvin is bringing that same commitment to Lake Elsinore. He advocates for building more affordable, diverse housing and creating a transportation system that is accessible and fair for all residents. Marvin is also dedicated to advancing green infrastructure and climate resilience, knowing that his generation—and the next—will face the greatest challenges posed by climate change.

Marvin is focused on making Lake Elsinore a more inclusive, sustainable community where everyone can thrive. By promoting thoughtful development, long-term planning, and inclusive decision-making, he is committed to ensuring the city grows in a way that benefits all residents.
  • Marvin Andrade believes Lake Elsinore needs a housing strategy that meets the needs of its diverse and growing population. He advocates for building more affordable homes, particularly multifamily developments and mixed-income housing. Marvin recognizes that housing is not just about providing shelter but about fostering inclusive, thriving communities. He supports cutting red tape, expediting the permitting process, and integrating housing with transportation infrastructure to ensure that Lake Elsinore remains affordable for all residents, while preserving the city’s unique character.
  • Marvin Andrade recognizes that wildfires are becoming more frequent across California, driven by climate change and human activity. While solar energy won't stop these fires, reducing reliance on fossil fuels is critical to preventing even worse climate impacts. Marvin believes Lake Elsinore must take proactive steps to adapt, by adopting fire-resistant building practices, improving emergency preparedness, and responsibly managing land development to reduce fire risks. He also supports expanding solar energy to lower emissions and build a sustainable future, while acknowledging that we will be dealing with the effects of climate change for years to come.
  • Marvin Andrade supports sustainable growth that puts the needs of Lake Elsinore residents first while protecting health and the environment. He believes in thoughtful development, not just signing off land to the highest bidder. With nearly 4 million square feet of proposed warehouse development, Marvin knows the city must be careful. The Inland Empire already suffers from poor air quality, and unchecked warehouse growth could worsen conditions in Lake Elsinore. Marvin advocates for responsible growth that listens to the community and balances economic development with the long-term well-being of residents and the environment.
Marvin Andrade is deeply passionate about addressing the tilted economy that is preventing younger generations from thriving. He sees the struggles of his generation—like the difficulty in affording a home, starting a family, and securing financial stability—as the result of successive policy failures. Rather than partisan blame, Marvin believes this is a shared problem with rising national debt and climate change worsening natural disasters. He advocates for leadership that thinks critically about these pressing issues, so future generations can overcome these challenges and thrive.
Marvin Andrade believes that while elected officials should have strong, well-known values, they must also be willing to change their mind in the face of constituent concerns. True leadership involves listening to the community and adapting when necessary, but always with principles at the core. In today’s political climate, where money can flood elections of any size, Marvin argues that leaders must ensure their votes and decisions are firmly grounded in the community they serve—not influenced by financial pressures. He believes that elected officials have a duty to remain connected to the voices of their constituents and ensure that every decision reflects the needs and desires of the people they represent.
I come from a background in organizing, where I’ve learned the importance of connecting with residents and asking about the things that matter to them. I meet people where they are and listen to their concerns, which helps me understand the issues that impact their lives. If elected, I plan to continue this approach with my constituents, ensuring that I stay connected to the community and responsive to the people I serve.
Marvin Andrade believes that the core responsibilities of a city council member include ensuring public safety, responsible budgeting, and maintaining essential infrastructure like roads. Beyond these, he sees a critical role in zoning decisions that prioritize residents’ needs—building more housing while keeping deep polluters away from communities. Marvin emphasizes the importance of being good stewards of the land by considering pollution, climate change, and the long-term future. He advocates for development that serves the community’s interests rather than selling off land to the highest bidder.
I want people to be free. I want them to work less just to keep a roof over their heads. I want them to have the freedom to make their own reproductive health choices and decide what’s best for their families. I want kids to be free from being shot at school. And I want people to be free to love who they want, without fear or judgment.
The first historical event I remember is 9/11. I was 8. My generation was shaped by the events that followed and will continue to feel the impact. My brother is a veteran of the war on terror and is considered disabled. I believe the country’s budget deficit, shaped in part by the costs of war, will be something my generation will need to address. Fixing those long-lasting consequences will be part of our responsibility, and the legacy of 9/11 plays a key role in understanding the challenges we face.
My first job was helping my dad, who ran a small floor cleaning business. At 10 years old, I spent weekends mopping floors while my dad worked hard to keep a roof over our heads. I continued helping through high school and college, and I still do it today to stay grounded. While it taught me the value of hard work, I don’t believe a child should have to hold a mop at 10 to support their family. I see the struggles families face today, and I’m committed to fighting for a future where they don’t have to go through what I did—a future where families can thrive without sacrificing their childhoods.
If I could be any fictional character, I’d choose Atticus Finch. He’s grounded, stands up for what’s right, and cares about his community, even when it’s tough. That’s the kind of approach I admire. Moral Courage.

Marvin Andrade is a strong advocate for financial transparency and government accountability. He believes voters deserve to know where a candidate's funding comes from, and once in office, leaders should prioritize making city budgets and decisions accessible to the public. Marvin is committed to pushing for transparency in city council decisions, ensuring that residents have a clear understanding of how their tax dollars are spent and how key decisions are made. For him, transparency is crucial for building trust between government officials and the community they serve.
