Marvin Pendarvis
Marvin Pendarvis was a member-elect of the South Carolina House of Representatives, representing District 113. He did not assume office.
Pendarvis (Democratic Party) ran for re-election to the South Carolina House of Representatives to represent District 113. He won in the general election on November 5, 2024. Pendarvis unofficially withdrew from the race but appeared on the general election ballot on November 5, 2024.
Pendarvis resigned from his seat in a letter written to House Speaker Murrell Smith on September 16, 2024.[1] Because he previously filed for re-election and unofficially withdrew from the race within 50 days of the general election date, Pendarvis still appeared on the ballot.[2]
Biography
Marvin Pendarvis was born in Charleston, South Carolina. He earned a bachelor's degree from the University of South Carolina and a law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law. His career experience includes working as an attorney.[3]

2017
A special election for the position of South Carolina House of Representatives District 113 was held on November 7, 2017. The primary election took place on September 5, 2017. The filing deadline for political parties to nominate their candidates to run in this election was July 15, 2017.[4]
The seat was vacant after Jackson Whipper (D) resigned to become a magistrate judge in Charleston County.[5]
Marvin Pendarvis (D) defeated Theron Sandy II (R) in the November 7 special election.[6]
Pendarvis defeated Chris Collins and Angela Hanyak in the Democratic primary.[7] Sandy defeated Rouzy Vafaie in the Republican primary.[8]
