Mary Ann Folchert earned a bachelor's degree from Miami University of Ohio in 1997 and a graduate degree from the University of Nebraska, Omaha in 2001.[1]

Mary Ann Folchert is a lifelong Nebraskan, former teacher, special educator, mom, and community volunteer. Frustrated by politicians who push narrow and divisive partisan agendas, Mary Ann is running to be a voice for those feeling unheard and ignored.
  • Great public schools are critical for Nebraska's future workforce and growth. Mary Ann is a strong defender of public education who believes public funds ought to support public schools.
  • To grow and expand Nebraska's workforce, lawmakers must focus on supports for workers such as affordable, available housing, quality childcare, paid family leave, and access to healthcare.
  • Healthcare decisions belong to patients and their doctors, not politicians. Mary Ann trusts Nebraskans to direct their own medical care and that of their children. She trusts Nebraska’s healthcare providers to engage in best practice as determined by medical experts and science.

I look up to my mother, who taught me from a young age the value of generosity, service, and community.
An elected official should be sensible, honest, and dedicated.
The core responsibility of this office is to build relationships with the constituents of District 31, represent their interests, and promote the common good through sound, effective policies.
I was 12 years old when the Space Shuttle Challenger exploded moments after take off. We were watching live in our 5th grade classroom.
Nebraska continues to see more folks moving out than moving in. To keep our state strong and our workforce robust, we must address this challenge.
In any job, building relationships is important. In government, where lawmakers represent different constituencies sometimes with competing interests, it's critical that lawmakers build relationships and seek common ground.
