Who are you? Tell us about yourself.

I am a long time resident of my district. My husband was career military and was stationed here, and we decided to make Colorado Springs our forever home. Twenty-five plus years as a middle school teacher has provided much experience relating to many different people. After retirement I became politically active in the community. When the opportunity presented itself, I ran for public office.

Please list below 3 key messages of your campaign. What are the main points you want voters to remember about your goals for your time in office?

• As a military spouse, I understand the concerns the many active duty, retired and disabled veterans have. I want to help all constituents in my district.
• Affordable housing is critical in this district. I want to continue to work for the people of this district to ensure they can find housing that is affordable.
• All people will thrive if they feel safe. I am a big supporter of the providers of public safety. I support our police, sheriff, and first responders, and believe they need to have the supplies they need to do their jobs effectively and efficiently.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

Human services to include mental and behavioral health. Since my background is in education, I support all forms of education.

What characteristics or principles are most important for an elected official?

I do not think the best elected officials need to be the smartest or the best spoken. I believe the best elected officials are the ones with the servant heart. They will have the conviction to strive to put the needs of the constituents first. This person is responsive to the people of the district.

What qualities do you possess that you believe would make you a successful officeholder?

I believe I have a servant's heart and want to serve the people of my district. I know I am a good listener and want to help my constituents get solutions for the problems they bring to me. My willingness to work hard and be dependable is important for the people of my district.

What do you believe are the core responsibilities for someone elected to this office?

1. To be actively engaged in the legislative process. 2. Be responsive to the needs and desires of the people in the district. 3. Be willing and able to contribute the time and effort this job requires.

What was your very first job? How long did you have it?

My first job was working in the grocery store in my small town. I did everything EXCEPT the meat counter. I stocked shelves, cleaned shelves, and rotated merchandise. I rotated the produce aisle as necessary, was the check-out person, and frequently the carry-out as well. I had this job from junior high until I left for college.

What organizations or individuals have endorsed your campaign?

NRA, Colorado Shooting Association, Colorado Chamber of Commerce, Colorado Civil Justice League, Healthier Colorado, Centennial Institute, Sheriff Joe Roybal and many others.

Health and human services and the education committees.
