Campaign themes
Brown's website highlighted the following campaign themes:[1]
Economy/Jobs
- Excerpt: "Our Economy is dependent on people working, and if people aren’t working we’re in a bad position. Let’s give people the opportunity to work and get us all back on our feet. We need to help people work instead of having faith in companies to hire in a tough economy."
Budget
- Excerpt: "The greater our support of education and those in poverty that want to help themselves makes us a better state that is looking out for our citizens and our future. The greater level of education we average, the better workforce we will have, and the better companies we can attract with our more educated workforce."
Education
- Excerpt: "I believe that investing in education and giving educators the tools and support they need to give students a better future. Creating standardized tests that have nothing to do with the curriculum being taught in the classroom and not giving School Districts the resources they need to make sure each student is taught at a pace that they can follow isn’t the way to make us a top notch place for students. Every Student that graduates from a Texas High School should be ready to attend college should they choose to. We have to invest in the future of Texas, and investing in education is a very big first step."
Energy
- Excerpt: "While we’re making drilling safer for our environment, we should look to our environment to create our next source of energy. In Texas, and especially North Texas, we have the sun and the wind to power alternative energy sources. Let Texas lead the nation and use our innovative spirit to use all of our natural resources to power our future."
