Mary Chicchelly is a judge of the Iowa Court of Appeals. She assumed office on January 14, 2022. Her current term ends on December 31, 2030.
Chicchelly ran for re-election for judge of the Iowa Court of Appeals. She won in the retention election on November 5, 2024.
Gov. Kim Reynolds (R) appointed Chicchelly to the court of appeals on December 7, 2021, to replace Michael R. Mullins.[1]
Chicchelly was a judge on the Sixth District in Iowa. She was appointed to this position by Governor Terry Branstad in February 2013 to take the place of retiring Judge Denver D. Dillard.[2] She was retained in 2014 and served until she joined the Iowa Court of Appeals.[3][4]
Education
Chicchelly received her undergraduate degree from the University of Iowa in 1989. She earned her J.D. from the University of Iowa College of Law in 1992.[2]
Career
Prior to her appointment to the bench, Chicchelly was a family law attorney in private practice with Seidl and Chicchelly.[2]
