Mary Daugherty Abrams
Mary Daugherty Abrams (Democratic Party) was a member of the Connecticut State Senate, representing District 13. She assumed office in 2019. She left office on January 4, 2023.
Abrams (Democratic Party, Working Families Party) ran for re-election to the Connecticut State Senate to represent District 13. She won in the general election on November 3, 2020.
Abrams served as State Senator for Connecticut State Senate District 13 from 2019-2023.
Abrams passed away on January 2, 2025.[1]
Biography
Mary Daugherty Abrams grew up in Meriden and graduated from Maloney High School. She earned a bachelor's and a master's degree in special education and later a sixth-year degree in education leadership from Southern Connecticut State University. Her career experience includes working in special education for over 25 years, serving as the Director of Special Education, and as a high school assistant principal. Abrams retired from education in 2017. She has served on the Democratic Town Committee, the Library Board, the St. Andrews Vestry, and as a Girl Scout leader.[2]
Senator Abrams was elected to represent Connecticut State Senate District 13 in 2018. In the 2019 session, she served as chair of the Public Health Committee, vice chair of the Education and Veterans' Affairs committees, and member of the Aging and Appropriations committees.[2]
