|With a proven track record of bipartisanship and independence as a state representative, Mary is running for state senate because she has the experience and work ethic needed to get things done.
Mary wants to build a brighter future for all of us by continuing to stand up for our working families, fight for women’s healthcare rights, protect our environment, and support safer communities through common-sense gun legislation.- Women's Rights: Mary is 100% pro-choice and believes that women’s rights are human rights. That’s why she led the fight to protect women’s right to choose in Illinois in case Roe v. Wade was ever overturned and made sure that Planned Parenthood had the resources needed to continue serving the community. Mary will stand up against any attempt to weaken women’s reproductive freedoms or take away their access to health care.
- Gun Violence Prevention: Mary is a teacher and mother who will work to strengthen background checks and red flag laws to make sure people like the Highland Park shooter cannot get their hands on deadly weapons in the first place. She is endorsed by leading gun violence prevention organizations such as Moms Demand Action, G-PAC, Giffords PAC, and Brady PAC.
- Environment: Mary believes that climate change is one of the largest human-made threats facing our world. Protecting our natural resources, promoting environmental justice, and creating good-paying clean energy jobs are priorities for Mary. When local families raised concerns about hazardous chemicals in our air, Mary took action. She stood with local families and fought to ban the use of these dangerous chemicals, hold corporate polluters accountable for the damage they caused, and demand greater protections for the air we breathe. Mary has passed legislation to improve conservation efforts, received a 100% rating from the Illinois Environmental Council, and is endorsed by the Illinois Sierra Club. She will continue to be

Scorecards
A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.
Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
