Mary Ellen Abrecht was a judge on the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.[1] She joined the court in 1990. In 2011, Abrecht retired from active judicial service, assuming senior status.[2] She died in August 2018.[3]

Education

Abrecht received her undergraduate degree from Mount Holyoke College in 1967 and her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in 1974.[2]

Career

Early career

Abrecht began her professional career with the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, D.C. She joined the force in 1968 and became a patrol sergeant in September 1972.[2]

Career

After receiving her law degree, Abrecht became an assistant United States attorney for the District of Columbia. She served in this position from 1975 to 1990. [2]
