Mary Ellen is a wife, mother, grandmother , small business owner and community leader. Her experience in a leadership role for more than 6 years makes a great choice to represent the district in the Senate. She has an MBA in Business Administration with a focus in accouting and understands the need for a balanced budget. As a mother of an autistic adult, she has been a long time advocate for persons with disabilities. She has implemented programs to help Seniors in Need, by providing services during the pandemic that would allow our most at risk residents to stay home safely. Mary Ellen has created many opportuinities to help promote a high quality of life in the communities she serves.
  • Mary Ellen has the education, background and demonstrated roles in leadership to represent the 11th district.
  • Mary Ellen has been a long time advocate for persons with disabilities, seniors, and Veterans to make sure that resources and services are accessible.
  • Mary Ellen has created partnerships and resources to make sure we have safe schools and communities to make sure all our residents have a good quality of life.
Mary Ellen is very passionate about small business, making sure regulation do not inhibit quality businesses from getting started and operating for success. Making sure minorities have services and resources to be part of the American Dream of home ownership and entrepeneurship. Mary Ellen has been a strong supporter of providing programs for young adults to have opportunities for apprenticeships, scholarships and opportunities to grown in business and trades. Mary Ellen is passionate about making sure all persons with disabilities have safe spaces in community parks to be able to enjoy the same quality of life as others.
Jane Addams was an amazing progressive female ahead of her time, born in Illinois in 1860. Jane had so many obstacles in her young life, she was a lesbian, had physical limitations, but was able to bring services to immigrants in the Chicago area, hired the first female African American doctor to attend to immigrants needs, offered housing, education, women's services, and so much more. SHe is a true example of what one woman can do to make sure a good quality of life is available to all - even if it is one person at a time.
I think ethics in politics has taken a back seat, so many are here to maintain machine politics. We need elected officials to focus on constituent concerns and not party concerns.
Business minded, Advocate for persons with disabilities, seniors and Vets, Excellent skills at bipartisan mediation
Quality of Life programs and resources
Remembering Tía, I authored this book with my daughters as a memorial for my sister that passed away from colon cancer.
Wondfer Woman, somewhat cliche, but I grew up watching the show and would love to have a lasso that can force politicans to tell the truth.
Baby shark, my granddaughters love that song.
AS a single mother of 3 on welfare for some years, trying to go to school, work full time and manage my household. The stress of living paycheck to paycheck, not being to pick up extra hours for fear of going over the income threshold and losing my daycare subsidy, finding back up daycare ,etc. All while trying to maintain a good family structure and being the best Mom I could be. Those years of struggle and my need to instill a good work ethic in my children is forever ingrained in my head that I cannot take anything for granted - that life does not owe you anything. If you want something you have to work hard for it and sacrifices are needed. It also has led me to always offer a helping hand to others, a simple act of kindness goes a long way and can often be a beacon of hope for someone in desperate times.
Budget, education, pension reform are all very important, Illinois does not offer a healthy resolution for any of these topics. The tax structure does not offer any real solution to these concerns.
Bipartisan working relationship would be ideal. Let the liegislators speak for their districts and hep prioritize concerns and work with community leaders to create more solid programs that are not governement dependent.
Independent redistricting, give the power back to the people.
