Mary Ellen Coghlan was an acting judge of the Illinois 1st District Appellate Court. She assumed office on July 30, 2019. She left office on August 31, 2024.

Coghlan ran for re-election for judge of the Cook County Circuit Court in Illinois. She won in the retention election on November 3, 2020.

Coghlan was assigned to the Illinois First District Appellate Court effective July 30, 2019, to succeed Judge Mary Anne Mason. Coghlan remained a judge of the Cook Circuit Court.[1]

Education

Coghlan earned a B.A. in English from the University of Illinois at Champaign in 1978. She went on to receive her J.D. from DePaul University College of Law in 1981.[2][3]
