Mary F. Walrath is a judge on the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware. She joined the court on September 9, 1998, and served as chief judge from 2003 to 2008. Her current term will expire on September 8, 2026.[1][2]

Education

Judge Walrath received her undergraduate degree from Princeton University and her J.D., cum laude, from Villanova University.[3]

Career

Prior to being appointed to the bench, Judge Walrath practiced as an associate at Clark Ladner Fortenbaugh & Young from 1982 to 1987, and then as a partner from 1987 until the firm's dissolution in 1996. She joined Walrath & Coolidge as a partner in 1996, and served as a shareholder at Jacoby Donner P.C. from 1997 to 1998. Judge Walrath's work during her years in practice was focused on debtor/creditor rights and commercial litigation, and she is now an adjunct professor at St. John's University School of Law.[2]
