Mary Hawkins Butler
Mary Hawkins Butler was a Republican candidate for Mississippi Auditor in the 2015 elections. The nine-term Madison Mayor filed her candidacy with the Mississippi Republican Party on February 9, 2015.[1] She was defeated by incumbent Stacey Pickering in the primary election on August 4, 2015.[2][3]
First elected mayor at 26 years old, Hawkins is one of the longest-serving mayors in the United States. She previously served on the Madison Board of Aldermen.[4]

Eleven state executive offices in Mississippi were up for election in 2015. The general election was held on November 3, 2015, following a primary election on August 4, 2015. Runoffs were scheduled for August 25 in case no candidate received a majority (50 percent plus one) of the popular vote in a given primary race.
Pickering defeated Hawkins Butler in the Republican primary and faced challengers Jocelyn Pepper Pritchett (D) and Lajena Walley (I) in the general election.[5]
