Johndroe ran for a seat on the Texas Second District Court of Appeals in the 2016 elections. The seat was held by Justice Anne Gardner (R), who announced that she would not seek re-election in 2016. Johndroe faced four other Republicans in a primary election and was defeated. No Democrats filed to run for Gardner's seat.[1]
