Campaign themes

2015

Peryea highlighted the following goals on her campaign website:

The East Aurora School Board will face some daunting challenges over the next few year. The uncertain financial outlook for our Nation and our State, leaves the funding of education in flux. Nonetheless, there are goals and challenges that must be addressed and accomplished.
  • Provide "Full Day Kindergarten for All" as an investment that will pay huge dividends for decades to come. Dr.Popp has set this as a primary goal for District 131.
  • Protect ALL OUR FACILITIES across the District. With 22% of students currently being educated in buildings that are between 85-105 years old – and another 60%, in buildings 50-75 years old – we must develop, and commit to, a long-range plan of proactive maintenance for all our District assets.
  • Continue working with the Illinois Association of School Boards to "establish the correct balance of responsibility between the Board and the Superintendent". As we allow our educators to make data-driven decisions regarding programs to serve ALL our students, the Board will adopt proper governance objectives.
  • Continue to engage with the City, Waubonsee Community College, and West Aurora District 129, on the Partners for Prosperity initiative. Dr. Popp has set a goal of ‘meaningful opportunity’ for all students upon graduation.

The goals of the district, are forward looking and aggressive. Positive change is here and I am running for Re-Election to the District 131 School Board.

Lou supports Board President, Raymond Hull, for Re-election.[8]
