I’m a small business owner, former teacher, and retired award-winning journalist with three decades of volunteer service to the Apex community. My landscape consulting business and experience as the chair of my HOA's grounds committee has given me a practical understanding of our community’s needs, which I’ve further applied as chair of the Apex Tree Citizens Advisory Panel, where I’ve listened and delivered for our town. As a devoted animal lover, I have fostered homeless dogs and adopted two rescues, Rockne and Muffet. With deep roots in Apex, I know what makes us the 'Peak of Good Living,' and I’m ready to fight for our future.
  • Apex’s growth should enhance our town, not erode what makes it the 'Peak of Good Living.' For years, the current council has promised “controlled growth,” but their approach—endorsed by others in this race—has led to cookie-cutter developments, strained roads, overcrowded schools, and dwindling opportunities for green space. I promise to Protect Neighborhood Identity, Balance Infrastructure, and Require Evidence that new projects enhance, not strain, our quality of life.
  • I’ll be your transparent tax truth-teller, ensuring every dollar and decision serves Apex. I'll advocate for a Taxpayer Bill of Rights and Truth about Taxes meetings, where you collaborate with the council, not just watch from the sidelines. I pledge to Open the Books: Provide clear, accessible records of every dollar spent and every vote cast; put Community First: Focus on Apex’s core needs—like safety, services, and infrastructure—before chasing trends; Shape decisions with you, not for you, rebuilding a united, desirable community where your voice matters.
  • Apex should be a fantastic place to live, work, and raise a family, but sprawling overdevelopment is eroding our neighborly feel, history, and identity. The current council—backed by others in this race—has prioritized growth that lacks character, bringing cookie-cutter developments that strain affordability with rising costs and taxes. The current approach risks turning Apex into just another overcrowded suburb, not the unique, vibrant town we cherish. I'll work to Preserve Our Identity, Support True Affordability, and Strengthen Our Core by investing in safe schools and streets coupled with a healthy environment so every resident, from long-time locals to new families, can thrive in a united Apex.
Smart Growth, True Transparency, and Affordability. I’m committed to making Apex a place we’re proud to call home—a community that elevates our quality of life and works for all of us.
I bring a blend of dedication, experience, and effective communication skills that are essential for a successful officeholder. My years as a news reporter have equipped me to examine issues from multiple perspectives, ask thoughtful questions, and explain complex topics in a straightforward way—skills that help foster openness and transparency in government.

Beyond my professional background, I have a strong record of community involvement, including leadership roles such as chairing my neighborhood's grounds committee and serving as a former chair of the Apex Tree Citizens Advisory Panel. Through these positions, I have demonstrated my commitment to stewardship and the values that matter most to our residents.

As a parent and former substitute teacher, I am deeply invested in the well-being of families and children in our community. I understand firsthand the importance of safe schools, affordable housing, and accessible public services. My empathy, leadership, and clear communication, combined with a genuine desire to serve, will help me advocate effectively for the people I represent and ensure their voices are heard in every decision.
Former Apex Town Councilmen R. Douglas Meckes and Gene Schulze, NC State lawmakers Rep. Erin Pare and Rep. Mike Schietzelt, "Oakey" owner Nancy Gutske, Wake County School Board member Cheryl Caulfield, former US House District 2 candidate Alan Swain, NC Senate candidate Mark Cavaliero, former NC House District 36 candidate Becki Allen, and former Wake County School Board candidate Elizabeth McDuffie.
Apex taxpayers deserve clarity, not closed-door decisions that disenfranchise citizens. I'll push to open the books to ensure residents have a voice in shaping our future.
