Mary Thomas (Republican Party) ran for election to the U.S. House to represent Florida's 2nd Congressional District. She did not appear on the ballot for the Republican primary on August 28, 2018.

Thomas was a 2016 Republican candidate who sought election to the U.S. House to represent the 2nd Congressional District of Florida.[1] Thomas was defeated by Neal Dunn in the Republican primary on August 30, 2016.[2]

Due to redistricting, this district flipped from safely Democratic to safely Republican. Incumbent Gwen Graham (D) did not seek re-election in 2016. Neal Dunn (R) defeated Walter Dartland (D), Rob Lapham (L), and Antoine Edward Roberts (Write-in) in the general election on November 8, 2016. Dunn defeated Mary Thomas and Ken Sukhia to win the Republican nomination, while Dartland defeated Steve Crapps in the Democratic primary. The primary elections took place on August 30, 2016.[3][2]

Thomas was a member of the NRCC's Young Guns Program in 2016. The Young Guns program "supports and mentors challenger and open-seat candidates in races across the country."[4]

  • Spending: Cut spending across the board.
