Mary Washington (Democratic Party) is a member of the Maryland State Senate, representing District 43. She assumed office on January 9, 2019. Her current term ends on January 13, 2027.
Washington (Democratic Party) is running for re-election to the Maryland State Senate to represent District 43. She declared candidacy for the Democratic primary scheduled on June 23, 2026.[source]
Biography
Mary Washington was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She graduated from the Philadelphia High School for Girls. She earned a Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University in 1997. Washington's career experience includes teaching sociology at Lehigh University.[1]

Elections for the Maryland House of Delegates took place in 2014. A primary election took place on June 24, 2014. The general election was held on November 4, 2014. The filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was February 25, 2014. Incumbents Curt Anderson, Maggie McIntosh and Mary Washington defeated Timothy Vance in the Democratic primary. Anderson, McIntosh and Washington defeated Greg A. Dorsey for three seats in the general election.[2][3][4]

Washington ran against five other Democratic candidates in the September 14 primary. There was no Republican candidate for the office.
Washington came in third in the general election on November 2, 2010, securing the third of three seats in the district.[5]
