Mary Windom
Mary Becker Windom (Republican Party) is a judge of the Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals. She assumed office in 2008. Her current term ends on January 18, 2027.
Windom (Republican Party) is running for re-election for judge of the Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals. The Republican primary for this office on May 19, 2026, was canceled.
Judge Windom was elected presiding judge of the court by her peers in 2012.[1]
Biography
Mary Windom received her bachelor's degree from the University of South Alabama in 1982 and her J.D. from the Thomas Goode Jones School of Law at Faulkner University in 1999.[1] Windom was in private practice before becoming an assistant United States attorney in the Southern District of Alabama. She served as an Alabama deputy attorney general immediately prior to her election to the court of criminal appeals.[1]

In her 2008 race for a seat on the court, Windom ran as a Republican against Democratic candidate Aimee Cobb Smith. Windom won 1,057,448 votes in the statewide election versus 904,676 for her opponent.[3]
