I was born and raised in DeKalb County and have been a community activist since a young age. I went to DeKalb public schools and graduated from Emory University with a Bachelor of Science in Anthropology and Human Biology, followed by a Master of Public Health degree in epidemiology from Georgia State University. I'm also a founding member and current board member of House of Globalization, which focuses on the issues of domestic violence and human trafficking. I've supported and led efforts against discriminatory policies and actions. I've also supported countless grassroots organizations fighting for the rights of people.
  • HEALTH FIRST! Public health approach to community solutions.
  • ALL community voices should be heard
  • Grassroots campaign powered by the people
I am committed to a health-first platform to create more health equity in the district. There are different needs of different communities, especially in such a huge district, therefore it is important to listen first to people who will be affected by your decisions. I will survey ALL residents/communities on the affordability and accessibility of basic building blocks of healthy communities. This includes transportation, housing, jobs/opportunities, fresh food, clean water, education, safety, mental/physical healthcare, greenspace. This way we can create representative data-driven plans to determine priorities. We must invest in the community by empowering local businesses and people.
