Broderick ran in the 2012 election for New Mexico House of Representatives District 30. She ran unopposed in the Democratic primary on June 5, 2012. She was defeated by incumbent Nate Gentry (R) in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[1][2]

Broderick has stated that she will be "strongly focused on enacting policies that will strengthen the public education we provide for our children and work hard to ensure access for every New Mexican family to a healthcare system that meets their needs at an affordable cost. I will also be a strong voice for the sustainable energy future that has got to take hold here in New Mexico. Solar, wind, geothermal, all of these technologies will creat good paying jobs as well as make the future brighter and cleaner for our children, and our children's children."[3]
