Defending Reproductive Rights: I have always believed that people, not the government, have the right to make decisions about their reproductive health. We must enshrine abortion access in the Maryland Constitution. We must protect access to abortion care, continue making it easier to access reproductive healthcare, and expand access to over-the-counter emergency contraception for students living on college campuses. We must designate healthcare centers in Maryland as sanctuary spaces for undocumented individuals, and ensure that detention facilities offer contraception, emergency contraception, and abortion care for incarcerated Marylanders. Climate/Environmental Action: We need to take bold action to address the climate crisis. I believe Maryland should lead the way in setting and meeting ambitious decarbonization targets. We need to invest in infrastructure for electrified public transportation. We need to significantly expand production and deployment of solar and wind power. If we make the right investments, our state can become an important player in climate innovation. Additionally, we need to make critical investments in climate resiliency – making sure every community is prepared to address the consequences of a changing climate.
