The Maryland Political Party of Replacement Officials Amendment, also known as Question 1, was on the November 4, 1986 ballot in Maryland as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment, where it was approved. The measure required the person nominated or appointed to fill a vacancy in the House of Delegates or the Senate to be a member of the same political party as that of the vacating delegate or senator.[1]
