Maryland Property for Redevelopment Purposes, Question 2 (2000)

The Maryland Property for Redevelopment Purposes Amendment, also known as Question 2, was on the November 7, 2000 ballot in Maryland as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment, where it was defeated. The measure would have authorized the Prince George's County Council to take property immediately upon a finding of immediate need for redevelopment purposes. The measure also would have required the Council to pay at the time of taking the appraised fair market value and also to pay any additional amount later awarded by a jury; and required the Council to offer financial assistance and payments to displaced owners or tenants.[1]
