The Maryland Recess Appointments of Civil Officers Amendment, also known as Amendment 3, was on the November 6, 1956 ballot in Maryland as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment, where it was approved. The measure provided that recess appointments of civil officers of the state shall be returned on the first day of the next regular session of the senate for its adoption or rejection.[1][2]
