The Maryland Temporary Replacement for Elected Officials Amendment, also known as Question 9, was on the November 7, 1978 ballot in Maryland as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment, where it was approved. The measure gave the general assembly to provide by law a temporary replacement for any elected or appointed officer of the state who is unavailable to perform the duties of his office.[1]
