Maryland Voter Registration Requirement of Elected Officials, Question 1 (1984)

The Maryland Voter Registration Requirement of Elected Officials Amendment, also known as Question 1, was on the November 6, 1984 ballot in Maryland as a legislatively referred constitutional amendment, where it was approved. The measure prohibited persons from serving as elected officials if the person was not a registered voter at the time of election. The measure also prohibited persons from completing a term of election if the person ceased to be a registered voter.[1]
