Maryland's 2014 judicial elections featured numerous competitive, nonpartisan races for the orphans' courts and the circuit courts, while judges of the Maryland Court of Appeals faced yes-no retention elections.[1]
The majority of this state's judicial elections in November were competitive, with only 40 of the 169 candidates running unopposed. Among the contested races, 11 incumbents were defeated. However, all five judges up for retention were re-elected by wide margins.[1]
A primary was held on June 24, 2014, and the general election was held on November 4, 2014.

Interesting races
- A write-in candidate won a seat on the Orphans Court of Garrett County as there were only two candidates on the ballot with three seats up for election. Dan Duggan was elected to the open judgeship.[1][2]
- Danny Brian O'Connor, an incumbent, was defeated in a close race for the 6th Circuit Court of Frederick County when Scott Rolle received 51.1% of the vote.
- Of the five judges up for retention, only Douglas R. M. Nazarian received less than 80% "yes" votes. Shirley Marie Watts received the highest retention percentage at 88.4%.
- Voters in Allegany County elected a former lawyer, Edward C. Crossland, as a judge of the Orphans Court of Allegany County. Crossland was disbarred by consent by the state of Maryland in 2010 for mail fraud. Four candidates ran for three open seats on the court.
