Two of the seven seats on the Smithtown Central School District Board of Education were up for general election on May 19, 2015. Board members were elected at-large by all district voters, but each seat on the board was elected separately. Ballotpedia assigned generic titles, Seat 6 and Seat 7, to the seats on the ballot. These seat titles were arbitrary and did not reflect the status or seniority of the board members holding them.

Incumbents Christopher Alcure and Matthew Morton were up for re-election. Alcure ran unopposed and won re-election to Seat 6. Morton did not file to run, leaving Seat 7 open to a newcomer. The race for that seat featured candidates Jeremy Thode and Maryrose Rafferty. Thode won the open seat.
