Marywave Van Deren
Marywave Van Deren was a judge on the Washington Court of Appeals, Division II. She was appointed to this position by Gov. Locke in April of 2004 and was elected the following November.[1][2] Van Deren retired from the court in 2013 and was succeeded by Bradley A. Maxa.[3]
Education
Van Deren received a B.A. degree in Sociology and a Master's of Librarianship from the University of Washington. After working as a librarian for seven years, she returned to the U.W., where she earned her J.D. degree in 1982.[2]
Career
Judge Van Deren began her career as an attorney. She was a partner of the firm Gordon, Thomas and Honeywell and then worked for Morton & McGoldrick for four years before she became a judge. She judged on the Pierce County Superior Court for over seven years before she was appointed to the Court of Appeals in 2004.[2]
2010 election
Deren was re-elected after running unopposed. [4][5]
