María Meléndez Altieri
María Meléndez Altieri (also known as Mayita) was a member of the U.S. House shadow delegates, Puerto Rico, representing Puerto Rico. She assumed office on July 1, 2021. She left office in 2023.
Meléndez Altieri ran in a special election to the U.S. House shadow delegates, Puerto Rico to represent Puerto Rico. She won in the special general election on May 16, 2021.
Meléndez Altieri was a member of the Democratic National Committee from Puerto Rico for the 2016-2020 cycle.[1]
Meléndez Altieri left office in 2023 for health reasons.[2]
Biography
María Meléndez Altieri was born in Río Piedras, Puerto Rico. She earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Puerto Rico at Río Piedras in 1973. She also received a Doctor of Dental Medicine from the University of Puerto Rico in 1977. Her career experience includes working as a dental surgeon from 1977 to 2008.[3]
