This measure was not put on an election ballot |
The Massachusetts Prohibit Deployment of State National Guard Initiative did not appear on the November 4, 2014, ballot in Massachusetts as an initiated state statute. The measure would have prohibited the Governor from deploying the Massachusetts National Guard outside the state, except for defense of the state or to provide temporary emergency assistance to other states during natural disasters.[1]
Petitioners did not turn in signatures to the Office of the Secretary of State by the November 20, 2013, deadline, therefore the measure did not qualify to appear on the ballot in 2014.[2]
Path to the ballot
Supporters submitted the initiative measure signed by ten eligible voters to the Office of the Attorney General, who then certified the measure for circulation. Following, supporters had until November 20, 2013, to obtain and submit 68,911 signatures. Petitioners failed to turn in signatures to the Office of the Secretary of State by the deadline.[2]
