Matanuska-Susitna Borough School District is located in Matanuska-Susitna Borough, Alaska. Matanuska-Susitna Borough is home to 95,192 residents, according to the United States Census Bureau.[1] Matanuska-Susitna Borough School District was the second-largest school district in Alaska, serving 17,480 students during the 2011-2012 school year.[2]

Demographics

Matanuska-Susitna Borough underperformed in comparison to the rest of Alaska in terms of higher education achievement in 2013. The United States Census Bureau found that 21.2 percent of Matanuska-Susitna Borough residents aged 25 years and older had attained a bachelor's degree compared to 27.5 percent for Alaska as a whole. Voter and candidate information

The Matanuska-Susitna Borough Board of Education consists of seven members elected to three-year terms by geographic electoral districts. There was no primary election and the general election was held on October 7, 2014. Two seats were up for election in 2014.[4]

Candidates began to file nominating petitions on July 21, 2014. The filing deadline for school board candidates to get on the ballot in the general election was August 1, 2014, and the deadline to withdraw was August 8, 2014.[5]
