Hello everyone My name is Mat Nevarez and I am running for Alhambra Elementary School District Board I am a first-generation college graduate and a proud product of the Phoenix public education system. In fact. Education was my ticket to safer, healthier and sustainable life. I grew up living in an undeserved community, spending 14 years in the same low-income apartment complex behind Carl Hayden high school. School was my escape! I took advantage of joining school programs such as PAC, Student Council, Dance, Band (just to name a few) that further developed me as a Leader For the last 10 years I have been a career Social worker, who's worked with at risk & homeless Youth, Students of all ages, and individuals with disabilities, to achieve goals in Education, Workforce development and independent living programs. Wanting to make an impact on another level, I obtained my Masters in Public Policy and have been working as An Ombudsman for the last 3 years for the Rehabilitation Services Administration with DES advocating for Individuals with disabilities in the workforce
