Mathieu Eugene
Mathieu Eugene (Democratic Party) was a member of the New York City Council, representing District 40. Eugene assumed office in 2007. Eugene left office on December 31, 2021.
Eugene (Democratic Party) ran for election for Brooklyn Borough President in New York. Eugene lost in the Democratic primary on June 22, 2021.
Biography
Eugene attended College Notre Dame. He earned an undergraduate degree from Regina Assumpta College in Haiti and an M.D. from Universidad Del Norte Este in Mexico.[1]
Eugene's experience includes service as the founder of the nonprofit organization Youth Education and Sports, a co-founder of the Committee for the Development of Northern Haiti, the president of the Haitian Community of Holy Innocence Church, the host of the cable TV shows "Youth and Family Empowerment" and "Community Connection and Empowerment," and a member of Community Board 14 and the Maimonides Medical Center's Community Board for In-Patients.[1]

New York City held elections for mayor, public advocate, comptroller, and all 51 seats on the city council in 2017. New Yorkers also voted for offices in their boroughs: The Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island.
Primary elections were scheduled for September 12, 2017, and the general election was on November 7, 2017. Under New York law, candidates who run unopposed in a primary or general election win the nomination or election automatically, and their names do not appear on the ballot.[2] Incumbent Mathieu Eugene (D) defeated Brian-Christopher Cunningham (Reform) and Brian Kelly (Conservative) in the general election for the District 40 seat on the New York City Council.
