My wife, Stevi, and I live in Hastings with our two-year-old son, Magnus, and our zoo of pets, including our dogs Ivan and Luna, Henry our beloved rescue cat, and our creatively named beta fish, Fishie. We love living in Hastings because of the wonderful schools, the miles of trails and expansive park space, and the friends and family that have surrounded us to make this community home. Currently, I serve as an Academic Liaison at Dakota County Area Learning School (DCALS) through Intermediate School District 917, where I help learners and families find the success and opportunities they need to meet their dreams. As an educator, I have worked as a paraprofessional, special education teacher, coach, advisor, and department lead, and I have dedicated eight years of my career to Hastings Public Schools. Working within the systems that make up public education has provided me with the experience necessary to maximize student outcomes with the structures and resources at our disposal.
  • As a dedicated school board candidate, my platform revolves around putting students and families at the forefront of all decisions. I firmly believe that an excellent education is the foundation for a brighter future, and it is my mission to ensure that every child in our district has access to quality learning opportunities. I will actively engage with parents and the community to create a collaborative and inclusive environment that fosters communication and mutual support. By working together, we can empower our students to thrive academically and develop the soft skills required to reach their full potential - nurturing the leaders of tomorrow while strengthening the bond between schools and families to uplift the entire community.
  • I firmly believe in upholding the fundamental value of a student's freedom to learn and express themselves. I staunchly oppose book banning and censorship, recognizing that diverse perspectives and ideas are essential for fostering critical thinking and promoting intellectual growth. It is my unwavering commitment to safeguard the right of every student to explore a wide range of literature, even when it might challenge prevailing norms or beliefs. By supporting an environment that encourages free thought and exploration, we can nurture well-rounded, empathetic individuals who are better equipped to contribute positively to society and navigate the complexities of our ever-changing world.
  • Recognizing that our dedicated educators and support staff play a crucial role in shaping the lives of our students, I am committed to ensuring fair wages, benefits, and working conditions for all school employees. By prioritizing collaboration and open dialogue with labor unions, we can create a harmonious and respectful environment that values the contributions of every team member. I will actively engage in constructive negotiations, seeking to address concerns and find mutually beneficial solutions to enhance the overall well-being of our educators and staff. Together, let's build a school community that values and supports the people who dedicate their careers to nurturing the potential of our children.
My passion for education is deeply intertwined with my commitment to advancing specific areas of public policy that align with my values and vision for our schools and community.

Access: I believe that every child, regardless of their background or circumstances, deserves access to a high-quality education. Closing achievement gaps and ensuring equitable access to resources and opportunities are central to my platform. I will work tirelessly to eliminate disparities in our schools and advocate for policies that prioritize historically underserved students.

Teacher Support and Professional Development:. I am committed to supporting our educators by advocating for fair compensation, adequate resources, and opportunities for professional growth. Empowered teachers are better equipped to provide the highest quality education to our students.

Safe and Inclusive Schools: I will prioritize creating safe, inclusive, and welcoming school environments. This includes addressing bullying, mental health support, and ensuring that our schools are spaces where all students feel safe and respected.

Community Engagement and Transparency: I will work to ensure that decision-making processes are transparent and that parents, teachers, and community members have a voice in shaping our schools' policies and priorities.

I believe that by addressing these issues we can create a more just, equitable, and prosperous future for our community and the next generation.
