Matt Davis is a longtime Ankeny resident, business owner, and civic leader running for City Council to help guide smart growth, strengthen infrastructure, and ensure every resident feels heard and supported. As co-owner of Neumann Brothers, a major general contractor in Central Iowa, Matt brings nearly two decades of experience managing complex construction projects, business growth, planning for long-term impact, and coordinating teams with precision and care.

He holds a Business Management degree and MBA from Iowa State University and has served on multiple nonprofit boards and local commissions or councils. Matt’s leadership is rooted in transparency, strategic thinking, and a deep commitment to service. Values he’s demonstrated through consistent community involvement, regional partnerships, and advocacy efforts throughout the Greater Des Moines metro.

Matt is running not just to represent Ankeny, but to continue showing up for it, bringing a process-driven, data-informed approach to city planning and a steady, inclusive voice to local government.
  • Fiscal Responsibility as a Stewart of the Citizens Tax Dollars I believe every dollar the city spends should be tied to real value for residents. That’s why I support continuous evaluation of our budget and tax structure, looking for ways to reduce the burden on local families while still investing in the infrastructure and services Ankeny needs to thrive.
  • Smart Growth Through Strategic Planning With deep experience in construction and infrastructure, I understand how to phase projects, manage budgets, and plan for long-term impact. I believe in bringing a data-driven, process-minded approach to City Council, ensuring growth is thoughtful, inclusive, and future-ready, not just for the short term, but for future generations to come.
  • Building a City Families and Businesses Choose to Call Home Ankeny’s future depends on staying attractive to families, businesses, and future development and that means investing in what makes our city livable, safe, and forward-thinking. I’ll support smart planning that brings the right amenities to town, parks, trails, gathering spaces, and infrastructure that meets the needs of a growing population. I’ll also work to ensure our police and fire departments have the resources and staffing they need to keep our community safe and responsive. As a business owner and longtime resident, I understand how safety, amenities, and strategic growth work together to make Ankeny a place people want to live, work, and invest.
I’m passionate about public policy that strengthens communities through smart infrastructure, responsible budgeting, and inclusive growth.

As a longtime Ankeny resident, I care deeply about how we plan for the future, whether it’s roads, utilities, parks, or public safety. I believe in evaluating taxes continuously to reduce the burden on families while still investing in what matters.

I’m also committed to policies that keep Ankeny attractive to businesses and families, bringing the right amenities, supporting police and fire services, and ensuring our growth reflects the values of the people who live here.

Public policy should be practical, transparent, and community-driven. That’s the approach I’ll bring to City Council.
I look up to a former mentor of mine, Tom Walter, who worked at Neumann Brothers and has since passed. Tom was intelligent, calm, and process-driven, a respected leader in both the construction industry and in life. He always put family first. In conversations, he’d ask about your kids or pets before ever talking business. That kind of empathy and integrity left a lasting impression on me. I strive to lead with the same humility, thoughtfulness, and respect that Tom showed every day. His example continues to guide how I show up for my team, my community, and my family.
Integrity, transparency, and a commitment to service are the most important qualities for an elected official.

Ankeny residents deserve leaders who listen, show up consistently, and make decisions based on long-term impact, not short-term politics. I believe elected officials should be strategic thinkers, emotionally intelligent communicators, great listeners and fiscally responsible stewards of public resources.

It’s also critical to lead with humility and respect—especially when representing diverse voices across a growing city. I’ll bring a steady, inclusive approach to City Council, rooted in trust, collaboration, and a deep commitment to the people who call Ankeny home.
My first job was corn detasseling in Sioux City, Iowa, a hot, early-morning introduction to hard work and grit for one summer. It taught me the value of teamwork, perseverance, and showing up even when the work is tough. Those lessons have stayed with me ever since.
