Eide's campaign website stated the following:

Issues

Josephine County Political Instability

There has been a lot of turmoil in Josephine County in recent years. A main goal of mine was to bring a new perspective to the County without any of the entanglements. I want to serve the public, since the role of Commissioner is as a public servant.

I have no interests in JoCo that would be “in conflict” with my role as Commissioner. My aim is to provide a wonderful place for my nieces and nephews to start their own families.

I will not enrich myself through the office. My goal is to serve the people of Josephine County.

Let me know what issues you would like me to address.

Responsible and Transparent Government

Matt believes Josephine County should:

  • Implement long-term financial planning to prevent budget crises
  • Provide clear public reporting on county spending
  • Endure state and federal grants are managed responsibly
  • Focus on efficient government that delivers essential services

Good government starts with trust, transparency, and responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars.

Growing the Local Economy

  • Supporting local small business and entrepreneurs
  • Expanding workforce training and trade opportunities
  • Promoting economic development that respects our rural character

Economic growth should benefit local residents and strengthen our community.

Public Safety

  • Maintain stable funding for the Sheriff’s Office
  • Support strong partnerships between law enforcement, fire districts, and emergency services.
  • Expand community policing and rural patrol coverage
  • Strengthen emergency response planning for disasters and wildfires

Public safety is job one. Every resident deserves to feel safe in their home and community.

Housing Solutions

  • Encouraging workforce housing development
  • Streamlining permitting for responsible housing projects
  • Working with local partners to address homelessness and addiction

Protecting Our Forests and Preventing Wildfires

  • Expand wildfire prevention and fuel reduction programs
  • Strong partnership with state and federal land managers
  • Community wildfire preparedness initiatives
  • Evacuation planning and emergency communication systems.

Protecting JoCo means protecting our people and our forests.
