I am a lifelong resident of Weber County. Born in Ogden and raised in Roy my wife, Shelly, and I found ourselves moving to Farr West. While growing up I spent a significant amount of time in my grandparent's orchards in North Ogden during the spring and summer picking fruit or removing rocks for irrigation ditches. I am a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and United States Air Force serving both in active duty and as a reservist from 1995-2004. I am employed as a police officer and have served in a public safety capacity for for nearly 20 years. Shelly and I have been married for 19 years and have four beautiful girls. We love watching the girls play sports and cheer and all things outdoors. In addition to camping I also enjoy hunting and fishing. I graduated from Weber State University with a Bachelor of Science in political science and completed a minor in history. I continued my education and received a Master of Art in public policy and administration at Northwestern University. After completing a graduate degree I was invited back to Weber State University as member of the adjunct faculty for the political science department teaching introductory courses related to American government and public administration. I am currently serving in my second term as a city councilman and as the Vice Chairman for the board of trustees for a special service district.
  • Public Safety is one of the Constitutional responsibilities of government. My experience in public safety will prove valuable when discussing public safety policy.
  • Socio-economic status is the best indicator for predicting or determining a student's success, not per pupil spending. I will support policies that improve the socio-economic status of communities and their families.
  • Protections afforded by the Bill of Rights are non-negotiable. I will vehemently defend them.

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in Utah

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.

Click here for an overview of legislative scorecards in all 50 states. To contribute to the list of Utah scorecards, email suggestions to editor@ballotpedia.org.
