As a pastor for 16 years, Matt established himself as a community leader . . . • Spearheading food and clothing drives for the poor and underprivileged • Developing a community sports league that services over 400 kids each season • Becoming certified as a chaplain with the East Hartford Police Department
To further equip himself as a public servant, in 2010 Matt earned a Master's Degree in Public Administration,
with a concentration in Health Services from Walden University.- Taxes are robbing us, business closures are crippling us, and drugs are killing us. Connecticut deserves better! When I am elected I will lower taxes, I will bring back jobs, and I will fight to keep drugs off of our streets.
- Like our founding fathers, I believe in life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. My decision-making is shaped by these three ideals. I will fight for everyone, I will safeguard our freedoms, and I will pursue prosperity for all.
- Our world is increasingly complex. Now more than ever we need leaders to stand up for our freedom and ensure the safety of our community. I will provide strong leadership with clarity, decisiveness, and compassion.
Then in 1991 the legislature instituted a state income tax for the first time. Ever since, taxes have steadily increased, with no end in sight.
Now, life-long residents are moving away in retirement. Small businesses are shutting down. Some of our largest corporations have already left the state. And in the run-up to the 2020 election, Connecticut ranks near the bottom in GDP growth.
In catering to special interest groups, this tax-and-spend mentality has gutted the middle class while pushing some of our largest cities to the brink of bankruptcy. Instead of taking steps to solve these problems, fiscal responsibility has been abandoned for the same failed tax-and-spend approach again and again, hoping for different results and looking for bailouts.
Regular citizens have been starting to feel this, which is why in recent years fiscally conscientious people like me have gained seats in our state congress.
I've been a community leader for 16 years and hold a master's degree in public administration, concentrating in health services. Most importantly, I'm a concerned citizen who's willing to step out and step up to improve our state for everyone.
