Campaign themes

2016

Jolson's campaign website highlighted the following issues:

Investment in our Children: As a husband and the father of two young children, Matt Jolson understands the importance of investing in our children’s future. The son of two Ohio schoolteachers, Matt knows that strong public schools best prepare our future generations. At the Statehouse, Matt will work to ensure Ohio’s children are receiving the best education possible, by providing students and teachers with the tools and resources they need to succeed. Matt will focus on issues including early-childhood education and vocational training, to ensure crib-to-career opportunities for the youth in our community.

Community Development: Matt Jolson knows that in order to move our district and Ohio forward, we must first focus on the issues right here at our doorstep. As your State Representative, Matt will work to create an environment that focuses on bringing living-wage jobs to the district and putting our friends and neighbors back to work. Building on his experience in both the public and private sectors, Matt will also seek to secure the transportation infrastructure and small-business incentives needed to make House District 17 a better place to live and raise a family.

Crime Reduction: Matt Jolson understands that the safety of our families and friends is our first priority. That’s why, as your State Representative, Matt will work with local neighborhood safety groups and law enforcement to ensure coordinated efforts to keep all residents of House District 17 safe. Matt will also advocate for up-to-date police technology and drug intervention services to both fight and prevent crime.[2]
