I am a father who wants my nine year old daughter to feel safe in schools.
  • There should be no biological boys in girls’ locker rooms, bathrooms or sports.
  • There should be trained police (SRO) in each LCPS school. Elementary schools do not have a dedicated full-time SRO.
  • Academics - students fall behind when they are passed from one grade to the next without mastering the basics. This needs to end.
School Safety. Teachers and Students should feel safe from threats both inside and outside the school.
I look up to Benjamin Franklin. He was smart, used the scientific method and he knew how to have a good time.
This is an apolitical position, therefore no board member’s ideology should be imposed on school employees or students.
A member of the school board should only use proven facts when deciding important issues. The member’s personal opinions should not be the primary guide.
That I made a positive change for all students, especially my daughter and my son.
American Hostages in Iran in the late 70’s and early 80’s. I was about 9 or 10. When the hostages finally came home my entire family stopped whatever they were doing and we watched it on TV.
My first job at 14 (work permit) in Maryland was washing pots and pans in a pizza restaurant.
Iron John. Life is about stories that shape who we become. I think I have become a better father and husband based on good stories that stand the test of time.
One of the main characters from Galaxy Quest (1997).
Diabetes. What is not to love about carbohydrates?
To educate and lift up every student so that they can thrive.
Parents, tax payers, anyone that wants to see Loudoun students to achieve rather than just get by.
We should return to a time where we didn’t treat everyone as a victim or an oppressor. Everyone is included as long as they follow the rules and treat everyone with respect.
I think everyone deserves respect as long as they treat you with respect. I won’t target any groups, each group should be treated equally.
Good teaching is having teachers that care about each and every student in their class(es). If a child falls behind in class, then there need to be parents with help from school resources to help the student catch up. If they are doing the assignments and understand the subject matter, then that will show up in their grades in ParentVue. This technology, if used correctly, can inform the parents in a moment if there are missing assignments that affect grades.
There is no reason why any school in LCPS should not be properly funded. There is 2 billion dollars in the LCPS budget and there was a misallocation of 29 million dollars recently revealed. The budget needs to be scrutinized where competitive bids for outside services can lower costs. Any cost savings should go to teachers and support staff salaries.
All schools should have a dedicated School Resource Officer (Police) present at all times during school hours. There should also be security staff onsite as well monitoring cameras and checking every entryway into the school to make sure it is secure. Prior to recess/outside gym the grounds need to be walked looking for any threats to the staff or students.
All staff should have regular 1-on-1’s with their admin asking if they need resources handling any stress or mental health related issues.
I would end the trans policy 8040 that allows students to enter sex-specific spaces based on gender identity. This policy is harmful to the reset of the girls or boys who have a right to privacy and to be respected in changing rooms or bathrooms.
For K-3 we need to tried and proven methods such as phonics, fluency, vocabulary and reading comprehension to promote literacy. For older kids there needs a transition to the socratic method of high expectations and worthwhile classroom discussion.
I am a parent. LCPS has lost it’s way by disrespecting the voice and the concerns of parents. We need to change that. I will be that change.
LCPS Teachers and staff members should be open to discuss issues of censorship, violence, discrimination, and retaliation. There should be no compelled speech. I think we can make working at LCPS fun, creative and rewarding.
Students should not have age-inappropriate books in class, libraries or counseling. I would not make any classes on gender or pronouns mandatory. Only licensed and qualified counselors should be administering any social-emotional learning.
AI has the capability to undermine learning by allowing students to cheat on assignments. This would be prohibited and tools in school should be used to detect AI generated course work. Returning to tests where knowledge of the subject and the student’s own words in essay form would prove no AI tools were in play
A teacher came forward to tell me she was attacked in school. The administration at the time covered up the incident and sent her to mandated sensitivity training. This has to end.
Becoming a father for the first time a month before my 40th birthday. I thought I would never find the love of my life. When I met my wife and we started a family it was the happiest I had ever been.
