He also worked as the national field director for the Republican National Committee (RNC). Mason was the political director of Scott Walker's 2016 presidential campaign.

Career

Mason's political career began while he was attending Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. He was active in both local and state-wide elections, acting as campaign manager on several campaigns. After graduating in 2000, Mason became the victory coordinator for the Ohio Republican Party (ORP), then, in 2001, he became the party's field representative.[1][2] In 2004, Mason served as the parties state victory committee director in charge of the Get Out the Vote initiatives.[3][2]

In 2005, Mason joined the U.S. Marine corps and served with Lima Company 3rd Battalion 25th Marines in Iraq. After returning from Iraq in 2006, Mason reprised his role as victory director for the ORP.[1][2] However, during the 2008 election cycle, Mason transitioned to the Republican National Committee (RNC) working as the Great Lakes regional political director helping on Rudy Giuliani's 2008 presidential campaign.[4][3] After Giuliani's withdrawal from the election, Mason continued as the victory director for ORP and helped the Get Out the Vote campaign for John McCain's (R) presidential campaign.[3][1]

In preparation for the 2010 election cycle, the Republican National Committee (RNC) hired Mason as the Virginia state victory director in 2009, but in 2010 he accepted the executive political director position with the Republican Party of Michigan.[1][4] The 2012 election cycle was a presidential cycle, and saw Mason making the move back to the RNC as the national field director in Michigan, West Virginia, Virginia and North Carolina.[1][4]
