Campaign website

Mowers' campaign website stated the following:

Lower Taxes and Economic Growth

America needs to support small businesses and their employees in industries disproportionately affected by government-forced shutdowns, cut taxes for working families, and cut non-essential spending to get control of our budget deficit. Internationally, we must hold China accountable for COVID-19 and unfair trade practices while moving critical manufacturing back to the United States.

FIGHT INFLATION AND LOWER GAS PRICES

The last thing that Granite State families need is more taxes from the government. Under Joe Biden’s administration, inflation is skyrocketing, and it is tough enough to get by as it is. We need to cut wasteful spending so that families in New Hampshire can spend their hard earned money where they want – not send it to Washington.

END WASTEFUL SPENDING

Matt knows that government spends too much of your tax dollars wastefully. Working in President Trump’s State Department, Matt found billions of dollars in excessive, unnecessary spending and proposed cutting it – but Congress spent more money anyway. By reducing spending, we can then make President Trump’s tax cuts permanent and allow New Hampshire’s economy to recover from the impacts of COVID-19.

Protecting American Security

Weakness invites aggression, especially when it comes to the humanitarian crisis on the Southern Border. Matt will fight to finish the wall, fully fund our border patrol, and label drug cartels as terrorist organizations.

STRONG LEADERSHIP TO PROTECT AMERICA

As the Senior White House Advisor at the State Department in President Donald J. Trump’s Administration, Matt saw first-hand how strong American leadership protects our nation’s interests and lights the way for freedom in the world. As we saw in Afghanistan, our enemies take advantage when weak leaders like President Biden. The fall of Afghanistan should be a reminder to all Americans of the dangers that America faces without strong leadership. We must fully fund and equip our military, empower them to make decisions and stand by our time-tested allies like Israel.

LESS SWAMP EXPERTS, MORE NEW LEADERS

When Matt arrived at the State Department, there was clearly a permanent class of “experts” that had always done things the old way and looked down on the newcomers with scorn. These cocktail circuit regulars endeared themselves to the Washington media with gossip and leaks. Joe Biden has put these swamp denizens in charge and as we have seen with the disastrous situation in Afghanistan, they jeopardize American security. We need to get rid of the elite “expert” swamp creatures and bring in new national security leaders with real world experience.

KEEPING AMERICA SAFE AND SECURE

Matt will always put America and our military first. Matt will work to restore our strength around the world that was weakened under Joe Biden and will work tirelessly to make sure our military receives the support they deserve. Matt will always work to ensure that our military has the resources necessary to safely protect our country.

FINISH THE WALL & STOP THE BORDER CRISIS

Matt saw firsthand how dangerous drugs flow over the southern border during his time at the State Department. These illegal drugs flow unchecked into states like New Hampshire, where they have devastated our communities. America has seen the impressive results that have occurred with pieces of the wall that have been built so far. The wall works – and Matt will work in Congress to ensure it is completed while working to codify smart immigration policies like the ‘Remain in Mexico’ policy negotiated while Matt served at the State Department.

STAND UP TO BIDEN: SECURE THE BORDER

From his work in the State Department, Matt knows that President Trump’s ‘Stay in Mexico policy’ works. In Congress, Matt will stand up to the radical left and Joe Biden to secure our border and ensure immigration laws are strengthened and enforced.

Constitution & Second Amendment

Nancy Pelosi, Chris Pappas and the rest of the radical left in Washington are trampling over the rights of the American people. We need to elect strong leaders like Matt Mowers to defend our liberties.

DEFEND THE CONSTITUTION & FIGHT SOCIALISM

Matt is a constitutional conservative who believes our rights need to be protected in Washington. He will defend our 2nd amendment rights and the rights of the unborn and stand up to Nancy Pelosi and the Squad to protect our Constitution and stop socialism.

RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS

As member of the NRA, Matt will always defend Granite Staters’ 2nd Amendment Rights. The text of the 2nd amendment is simple – “the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” In Congress, no one will fight harder than Matt to make sure that right is secure.

PROTECTING THE UNBORN

The right to life is under attack from the radical left in Washington. Matt believes that every life is precious and worth protecting. Pro-abortion Democrats in Washington get more radical every day and want to use taxpayer dollars to fund partial-birth abortions in the United States and overseas. Matt will always protect those who cannot protect themselves.

Preventing the Next Pandemic

We must hold China accountable for causing the COVID-19 pandemic and also take preventative measures that protect the long-term economic prosperity and national security of the American people.

MAKE IT IN AMERICA – MAKE NEW HAMPSHIRE A LEADER

In 2020, Matt called for Congress to incentivize manufacturers of vital materials like pharmaceutical ingredients, national security components, and agriculture to bring their production back to the United States. This will create jobs and protect America’s national security interests. With its low tax climate, New Hampshire can be a leader in attracting many of these new manufacturers. We should develop partnerships between our higher education institutions and these new companies to provide jobs for recent college graduates and keep New Hampshire’s brightest here in the Granite State.

HOLD CHINA ACCOUNTABLE

The Communist Party of China provided false reports of infections and deaths while they actively covered up the outbreak, along with help from the World Health Organization (WHO). It is imperative for our safety and our national security that we hold China accountable and break our over-dependence on the communist country. It is only right that China pays reparations to U.S. citizens for damages caused by the outbreak. Americans should be able to sue China as they would any other wrongdoer in U.S. courts where they can seek to be made whole again from this preventable tragedy.

END GAIN OF FUNCTION RESEARCH

The U.S. government has no business supporting research that involves experimenting on existing pathogens to make them more contagious. The United States should stop taxpayer funding for this risky research and ensure that any outside group conducting similar research must adhere to strict guidelines.Instead, we should focus on making smart investments in new innovative therapies.

Election Integrity

Matt saw the need for new laws firsthand working alongside President Trump in 2016, and as the nominee in 2020.

DEMANDING REGULAR AUDITS & REAL VOTER ID

Nothing is more important or sacred than each American’s right to vote. To protect that right, we need to ensure that elections are secure, and the integrity of our electoral systems is strong. Just like President Trump, Matt supports establishing effective voter ID laws, regular audits of elections to verify vote totals and provide every American citizen with the certainty that their vote counts.

WORK TO STRENGTHEN NEW HAMPSHIRE ELECTIONS

The best legislation to secure our elections will come from Republicans at the state level. Matt supports Governor Sununu and the New Hampshire legislature’s efforts to improve our own voting laws so that only legal residents of New Hampshire are entitled to vote, and voter ID is required.

NO FEDERAL ELECTION TAKEOVER

Matt will never allow Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats in Washington to run New Hampshire’s elections. As the Democrats in Washington pushed the radical HR1 legislation, Matt was a vocal leader in the Granite State fighting back.

Drain the Swamp

o Career politicians are a cancer to our government. Matt will ban insider trading by members of Congress and is a proud supporter of term limits.

DRAIN DC

Too many career politicians like Nancy Pelosi have gotten rich through serving in Congress and have forgotten who they work for. Matt knows that we need term limits to remind our Representatives that they work for us, not the lobbyists and special interests in Washington. Matt committed to cosponsoring and voting for term limit legislation when elected.

BREAK UP THE BUREAUCRACY

Unelected bureaucrats hold too much power over the decisions and tax dollars of everyday Americans. We need to upgrade civil service laws to ensure that employees who violate the public trust or don’t deliver can be held accountable. Matt also supports moving significant portions of the federal workforce out of Washington, DC and into the states in order to bring fresh ideas in the federal government and make them closer to the people they serve.

Healthcare

A personalized approach that lowers costs, expands access, and improves delivery.

COVERING PRE-EXISTING CONDITIONS & LOWERING PRESCRIPTION DRUG COSTS

Matt will always fight to ensure those with pre-existing conditions are not denied coverage from insurance companies. In Congress, Matt will also fight to lower the costs of prescription drugs.

AFFORDABLE HEALTHCARE THAT PUTS FAMILIES IN CONTROL

Our healthcare system needs real improvement to make it more affordable and put people in control of their own healthcare decisions – not bureaucrats. Mowers will always fight to ensure that those with pre-existing conditions are covered.

GET BUREAUCRATS OUT OF HEALTHCARE

Washington politicians and bureaucrats don’t solve problems, they create them. The Democrats’ plan for a full government takeover of our healthcare system would be a disaster. Matt supports putting people – not bureaucrats- in charge of their own healthcare decisions by reducing costs and letting individuals to find plans that work best for them.

Back the Blue

The women and men of our law enforcement community, and the people who depend on them deserve to know that we have their backs. They deserve to know that leaders in Washington care about their safety and security, too.

DEFEND & FUND LAW ENFORCEMENT

Our law enforcement officers deserve to have a Representative in Congress who will fight for them, not join the radical left in their calls to defund them. Matt will work tirelessly to ensure that law enforcement has every resource they need to safely protect our communities.

PROTECT QUALIFEID IMMUNITY

Unfortunately, instead of standing up for our police, Congress prefers to use our police officers as political punching bags. Nancy Pelosi’s Congress and the radical left voted to strip police of critical protections — including qualified immunity, which protect law enforcement and their families from frivolous lawsuits by the criminals they arrest. Qualified immunity protects good police officers. In New Hampshire, bad actors are held accountable. That’s how our officers are trained and that’s what they believe in.

PROMOTE NEW HAMPSHIRE LAW ENFORCMENT

New Hampshire law enforcement is a model for the rest of the nation. They train correctly and believe in accountability. Officers across our state show up to work each day, through pandemics and blizzards, to protect our communities. They risk their life every time they put on our uniform. Matt will promote officers in the Granite State as a model for the rest of the country.

Safety in our communities is too important to let the politics of folks like Nancy Pelosi, Chris Pappas and Joe Biden get in the way. I hope our senators will oppose defunding the police and stripping away critical protections for them to do their jobs — and I hope that citizens will join me in speaking up on these issues.

Supporting our Veterans

Our military veterans deserve to have the highest caliber health care that we can provide them.

CARING FOR OUR VETERANS

Our military veterans and law enforcement officers deserve to have the highest caliber health care that we can provide them, whether that is the VA or the hospital of their choice. The Government shouldn’t dictate where our brave heroes receive their treatment. Matt will prioritize improving the VA system and ensure that New Hampshire veterans like his Uncle in Strafford County can get quality care close to home.

MENTAL HEALTH

Part of increasing the quality of health care for our veterans includes ensuring that they have access to mental health treatments that are needed. Mental health treatment, more recently in part due to fall of Afghanistan, is becoming more and more important in helping Veterans when they return home. This ties in very closely with our challenges with the drug addiction crisis, which spans both veterans and non-veterans.

End the Drug Crisis and Tackle Mental Health Challenges

The drug crisis and mental health challenges have touched nearly every Granite State family. Drugs have taken loved ones and impacted our families and our workforce. Smart and compassionate leadership can help us end the drug crisis and tackle mental health challenges that have affected so many by helping those who suffer from addiction to reclaim their lives.

STOP THE INFLUX OF DRUGS

Whether it’s across the border or through the mail, illegal drugs make their way into New Hampshire and poison our communities. We need to finish securing the southern border to prevent the influx of drugs and get tough on countries like China that passively allow the shipment of drugs like fentanyl and meth.

WORK WITH NEW HAMPSHIRE LAW ENFORCEMENT & MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELORS

Matt will work to fund additional support for our local law enforcement as well as local mental health counselors who can work together to tackle the drug and addiction crisis at the local level in New Hampshire. These resources should also be focused in our schools to allow for early interventions and prevent our students from getting hooked on drugs.

FULLY SUPPORT NEW HAMPSHIRE’S COMPASSIONATE APPROACH

Governor Sununu and New Hampshire leaders have created a personalized approach to tackling the addiction challenges in our state through the ‘Hub and Spoke’ system. We need to fully fund these efforts to ensure that those who seek help have access to inpatient treatment and care immediately, to help them tackle their addiction and provide opportunity for them to reclaim their lives.[3]

Matt Mowers completed Ballotpedia's Candidate Connection survey in 2020. The survey questions appear in bold and are followed by Mowers' responses. Candidates are asked three required questions for this survey, but they may answer additional optional questions as well.

Expand all | Collapse all

Matt Mowers has spent his career fighting for freedom and conservative values. Mowers served as a Senior White House Advisor and diplomat in President Trump's Department of State. Previously Matt served as a Senior official on the historic Trump-Pence campaign and subsequent transition team. Matt lives in Bedford and is married to Cassie Spodak.
  • It's time for a new generation of conservative leadership that will stand up for New Hampshire

  • In Congress, Matt will ignore the partisan battles and work with the President to deliver real results

  • Matt has seen first hand the damage that implementing socialist policies can do to a country. We don't need someone who campaigns like JFK but votes like AOC. We deserve better, someone who will put New Hampshire first.
Matt is running for Congress to usher in a new generation of innovative conservative leadership, while taking on Nancy Pelosi and the socialist Democrats who want New Hampshire's taxpayers to foot the bill for their radical agenda.

Matt knows that America can best lead the world when it takes care of the needs of its own citizens first. In Congress, he will prioritize building the wall to stop the influx of illegal drugs, lowering prescription drug costs, supporting small businesses by lowering taxes and reducing burdensome regulation, protecting the dignity of all lives including the unborn, passing new trade deals to help New Hampshire's workers and economy, protecting our second amendment rights, and standing up for our veterans.
