General: He defeated Deana M. Finnegan in the general election on November 4, 2014, receiving 51.2 percent of the vote.

Stewart received his J.D. degree from the Thomas M. Cooley Law School.[4]
Military service
Stewart served in the United States Navy. He received an honorable discharge after serving during Operation Desert Shield / Storm.[4]
Career
Before his election to the 35th Circuit Court, Stewart worked as an attorney in private practice.[4]
