Matt Waid earned a bachelor's degree from the University of California, Berkeley and a master's degree from The Ohio State University. His professional experience includes working as a student conduct investigator. He is affiliated with the Association of Student Conduct Administrators.[1]

|- Student Success: Students deserve clear, publicly-available paths to transfer or graduate. They should not have their progress delayed due to being blocked by capped enrollment in required courses.
- Streamline Systems: We should not reinvent the wheel by creating different systems that do the same things at Saddleback College, Irvine Valley College, and ATEP. Collaborating across campuses will help the district save money and dedicate more energy to expanding upon successful initiatives.
- Expand Career Services: Integrate resume-building, cover letter-writing, and interview skills into each semester of a student's plan. Refining these skills over time ensures that when students are approaching graduation, they will be checking in with career services for the last time-not the first.
Re-funding public institutions so that students are not faced with monumental levels of debt
